kids learning

Old South Union Preschool’s philosophy is based on Piaget’s theory that children develop cognitively.  It is a theory of thinking, knowing, perceiving, remembering, recognizing, abstracting, and generalizing.

Old South Union Preschool’s goal is to provide a quality education for your child in a safe, secure, clean, and loving environment.  As a state-licensed facility, the school will have a staff trained in early childhood education, and who are certified by the Massachusetts State Office of Early Education and Care.

An integral part of Old South Union’s philosophy will be the encouragement of good communication between parents and teachers via newsletters, conferences, parent meetings, etc.  We value parent involvement and encourage you to partner with us to give your child the most powerful and joyous learning experience possible.

Academically, we believe that it is our job to stimulate the curiosity of each child in the area of learning.  We hope that we will be able to open up the doors letting each child progress without pressure at their own pace and ability.  We believe that each child matures at a different rate and this must be taken into consideration both in the area of curriculum and the presentation of material.  Our games, play opportunities and lessons encourage the acquisition of mental abilities appropriate for their age and ability and assist in the development of small and large motor skills.  Children learn best when they are relaxed and happy.  Laughter and bursts of enthusiasm are enjoyed and encouraged from the children and staff.  We feel that it is our job to prepare your child by giving him/her a sound foundation, so that he/she may find his/her introduction into Kindergarten a pleasant and rewarding experience.

We believe that good teaching requires continual professional development, personal reflection, and collaboration.
